Weekly Chapels – All School – A time to worship through song
and teaching on God’s Word.
Class Field Trips – All school – Visiting historic sites, museums,
or facilities that children have been learning about.
Holiday Class Parties – All School – Thanksgiving, Christmas,
Valentines Day, Easter, End of Year.
Competitive Sports Teams – MS & HS – Soccer, Basketball, and
Track teams compete with other International and Ukrainian
schools.
Student Council – MS & HS – Consists of at least 7 appointed
officers ( President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, male
Chaplain and female Chaplain) and student elected
representatives/presidents of each class.
National Honor Society – HS Juniors and Seniors – An
organization that recognizes KCA students for their
accomplishments in academics, service, and leadership.
Yearbook – HS – Students gain invaluable experience in working
together to produce a hard cover yearbook that shows pictures
of each child at school, various school events and attempts to
depict everyday life at KCA.
Discussion Groups– 8th – 12th grades – Faculty-led discussion
groups which meet twice a month, once during Bible class and
once in place of chapel. The purpose of the groups is student
edification and spiritual growth.
College & Career Fairs – HS – There are various opportunities
throughout the year, that may include
workshops on potential careers, personal skills, interest
identification, college selection, and how to be a successful
college student.
Other Events:
Fall Retreat – MS & HS – A weekend to challenge students in
their walk with the Lord and to promote unity in the student
body. The retreat is typically held at a sanatorium outside of
Kiev and leaves from school at mid-day on Friday and returns to
a meeting place Sunday afternoon.
Student Leadership Conference – HS – A 2- 3 day leadership
training time for KCA student council members and students
invited by the advisors. The time will focus on personal
leadership skills and personal spiritual development. Sponsored by ACSI and held in Budapest, Hungary.
Fall Festival – All School – A carnival-type day at KCA. Students and parents are encouraged to dress in
costumes and to participate in various games and competitions in
classrooms and outdoors.
Sports Banquets – MS & HS – A time to celebrate the end of
the sports seasons and acknowledge the hard work and talents
of each student.
Snow Ball – HS – A fun evening for high school students in early
December usually held at KCA.
Christmas Program – All School – The music teacher coordinates
a program for elementary students as well as performances by
the MS and HS choirs.
Spiritual Emphasis Week – MS & HS – This is a week of daily
chapels with a particular theme intended to encourage MS and
HS students in their walks with the Lord.
Missions Trip – HS – This is an annual trip during part of spring
break to some area in Ukraine, giving students a chance to
minister and build the body of Christ here in Ukraine.
Talent Show – All School – An opportunity for students to share
their gifts and talents on stage.
Honors Choir Trip – ACSI sponsors an annual choir event that
brings together students from international schools all around
Europe.
Terra Nova Testing – ES + 7th grade – American Standardized
testing administered during 3 consecutive mornings.
Junior/Senior Trip – Upperclassmen travel to a European city
accompanied by parent and/or teacher chaperones for 4-5 days.
They will visit historic sites, fellowship together, and learn
about another culture.
Drama Production– HS – Students may audition in January and
will practice through until May. Led by our drama teacher and a
student director, the costumes and sets are created with
volunteers.
End of the Year Picnic – ES – Held on a Friday.
Last Bell Program– All School – A time to celebrate another
school year accomplished, enjoy musical performances of the students of
all ages, give academic awards, sign yearbooks, and say goodbyes.
Graduation – Seniors – A meaningful time of celebration and
closure for KCA’s seniors and their family and friends.
